Shamwari, Bayete lodge
The first night, in rain and thunder, we met the Lion King

In even more rain we saw this Cheeta with her cubs

Cleo was our first class ranger
We saw some perfectly normally behaved Elephants at Shamwari......
..and some very photogenic Giraffs
We went jeep -jockeying for this lovley Leopard

This impressive Eland bull almost got killed by a lion right in front of us....
The Mountain reedbuck is an endangerd animal but yet very playful....

The Vervet monkey
White Rhinos are grey and have three humps.... Black Rinos are also gray and have two humps! They are also smaller, more dangerous, and live in the thickets

The Burchells Zebra
Some Buffalos can be very dangerous.....others very sleepy.
Cheetas are the fastest mammal on earth

The Impala plays a important role in the ecosystem....

Kudos often stays in the thicket.
Please don´t disturbe....
The Lions often walks the roads after rainfall - the don´t like to wet their feets! Beware if your car breaks down!

You are not supposed to show your siluette from the car - that could start an attack
But when you take a brake on a hill thats OK.
This Wharthog was more fortunate then one of the ones we saw at Kwandwe
Our chalet at Kwandwe Game reserve.
The lounge

A perfect place for afternoon tea - before going out for the night (not to dance).
The Elephants at Kwandwe where much wilder....
This maetress was not at all happy with our visit
Last year elephants killed more people in Zimbabwe than any other wild animal!
At one stage all of us where really scared....
The reason for there agression was the fact that the herd had a couple of really young ones....
Even this young male was scary at one moment..
After that all of us was happy to go for some birding.....
African Fish Eagle!
 Greyheaded bushshrike
Blue Crane

From a distance the Hippo was perfect.
But he showed us who was rueling the river!
Don´t come closer.....
..or I chop you into pieces
More birding instead!
Gemsbock (Oryx)

We didn´t see many snakes...
Waterbuck
Whit Rhino on the move - please start the engine...

Guinneafowl
Steenbok
Wild hunting dog

One out of three cheeta males who hunted at night!

We came less than ten seconds after that three lions caught this wharthog. Don´t look at these pictures if you can´t accept nature...

It took more than ten minutes before the hog was dead......
Many lions get seriouse injuries when fighting each others

"If they are going to fight I might as well do the best of the situation......"
After a meal you get tired...

We didn´t get anything.....

We have to find our own dinner somewhere else

The Chakma Baboon
The elusive Black Rhino with two humps.....
Blue starling

Cukooshrike
Baby Rhino (white)
Kudo

The gang.... with De Wet at the wheel and Vosi at the front
